Audio Tips (How to Practice)

  1. Use your phone’s voice recorder for 30 seconds per set; compare first and last attempt.
  2. Slow first, then natural speed. Keep clarity over speed.
  3. Put a finger on your throat:
  • V (vibrate) vs W (no vibration at lips)
  • Voiced TH (vibrate) vs Voiceless TH (no vibration)
  1. For TH, show a tiny bit of tongue between teeth—air must pass.
  2. For long vowels, hold for 2 counts: “shee‑p” (not “ship”).

Practice Sentences (with easy Hindi meanings)

  1. Think three thoughts today. — Aaj teen soch socho.
  2. This village is very wet. — Ye gaon bahut geela hai.
  3. We will visit West Road. — Hum West Road par milenge.
  4. Please play the right video. — Kripya sahi video chalaiye.
  5. Leave the seat for Shiv. — Shiv ke liye seat chhod dijiye.

Quick Self‑Check

  1. Can you feel throat vibration on “this/that” and “very”?
  2. Do your lips round for “water, week, wow” without touching teeth?
  3. Does “right” sound different from “light” in recordings?
  4. Can you hold “sheep” longer than “ship”?

Challenge (2 minutes extra)

  1. Read aloud: “This week, we visit a very wet village on the right road.”
  2. Record twice. Mark words you mispronounce. Repeat 3 times.
